Dorothy Mae Blessinger, age 86 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 4:13 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at home.

Dorothy was born on June 15, 1927 in St. Anthony, Indiana to Clement and Catherine (Haas) Hasenour. She married Edwin J. Blessinger on September 9, 1950 in St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1968.

Dorothy formerly owned and operated the Welcome Inn Bar and Restaurant in Jasper for over 50 years.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and it’s Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Donna Dalton and her husband Dave, of Jasper and Ann Hadley and her husband Rob, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Kevin Blessinger and his wife Barb, of Jasper and Gerald Blessinger, both of Jasper; daughter-in-law, Kristie (Werne) Blessinger, of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tim Dalton, Paula Obermeier, Travis Blessinger, Tori Blessinger, and Trevor Blessinger; three sisters, Marian Hopf, and her husband Tom, of Jasper, Laverne Begle, and her husband Hilary, of Ferdinand and Kathy Kluemper, and her husband, Don, of Huntingburg.

Preceding her in death beside her husband are two sons; Marvin and Jeffrey Blessinger, two sisters; Delores Wehr of Ireland and Margie Rasche of Jasper, and three brothers; Jerome and Allen Hasenour, both of Huntingburg , and Robert Lee Hasenour of St. Anthony.

Funeral services for Dorothy Blessinger will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April, 8 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church. The Blessed Virgin Sodality of Holy Family will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. on Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.
