Letter to the Editor: Children as pawns
I am sure most of you have heard about the thousands of illegal alien children crossing our border daily, an estimated 65,000 unaccompanied minors.
Our government, the government that is supposed to be protecting our borders, issued a directive to border patrol telling them to allow unaccompanied minors into our country. These kids allegedly walked from Central America, through Mexico into Texas, on their own. If you believe that, then I have some lake front property in Death Valley to sell you.
According to “English First” (www.englishfirst.org), last January, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, put ads on the government’s official website, www.FedBizOpps.gov to hire transportation and escorts for an estimated 65,000 children coming to America.
Under the Family Re-unification Program, family members of a legal resident in the U.S. can get visas that allow them to come to America.
No doubt these illegal children will be given citizenship in the U.S., thus bringing, on average 5-10 family members each. Our present administration is using children to further its agenda to destroy this nation. How sad is this?
As these people as relocated in the United States, local communities will be forced to use their limited resources on these uninvited guests. They will need to provide food, housing and no doubt Spanish speaking Public School Systems. These resources should be spent on American families and their children. First, we should take care of our own, once that is done we can help others, if they are willing to help themselves.

So we can go spend millions in other countries to help them even on some that hate us and continue to try to hurt us but yet we can not let other people come here who are willing to work hard and do to support themselves here and there own back home. There is not one latino i know that come from were ever to get on welfare all the ones i know work and dont cry about how hard it is or how many hours they have to work. And its funny to read this in dubois county in. With all the jobs we can not fill. People need to start teaching there kids work ethnics instead of worrying about some one elses kids coming here to do there job!
It is refreshing to see you did not call him a bigot or racist as soon as he implies that we should be enforcing current immigration laws. That seems to be the immediate response to anyone whom dares to support protecting our border from the onslaught of undocumented / illegal immigrants.
