Local marching bands advance to semi-state

It was an important weekend for high school marching bands as the ISSMA open class regional competitions were held on Saturday. Those bands that were awarded enough points based on their performances movedĀ on to the semi-state competition on November 1st.

Jasper, Southridge, Forest Park, Springs Valley, Paoli, and Pike Central all advanced to semi-state.

In open class regional competition at Center Grove High School on Saturday, Jasper attained a gold rating in class B.

Other bands that attained a gold rating in class B include Greenwood, Plainfield, Northview, Bloomington North, F.J. Reitz, and Floyd Central. New Palestine, Evansville North, and Evansville Harrison all received a silver rating and will move on to semi-state as well.

Jasper will march their program “Celtic Dances” at Contest of Champions at Middle Tennessee State University this weekend.

In open class regional competition at Evansville Central High School, Forest Park, Springs Valley, South Spencer, Clay City, Paoli, Mater Dei, Monrovia, North Posey, Crawford County all got gold ratings and will move on to the semi-state competition at Franklin High School on November 1st. Orleans received a silver rating and enough points to move on to semi-state competition as well.

Forest Park also achieved distinctions in music, visual and effect. They will perform their program “Aquatica” at Lucas Oil Stadium at the Bands of America Super Regional on Friday of this week.

In class C, also held at Evansville Central, Southridge and Pike Central both attained gold ratings. They will perform at Decatur High School on November 1st.
