Lady Antebellum members pose with Danielle Wehr: From left-Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, Danielle Wehre, and Dave Haywood
On Christmas Day, my boyfriend, Andrew Davis from Evansville, gave me two tickets to Lady Antebellum for Sunday, February 26 at the Ford center. He also bought me a fan club membership on Lady Antebellum’s website and as a surprise, he sent in a request for a meet and greet opportunity. They picked his letter along with 30 others.
Two months later, I was sitting in a front row seat in front of the band-I was two feet away and could almost touch them. Many people had questions and I finally got the nerve to ask one. I asked, “In mid March I will be recording down in Nashville, what is the next step after I have my recordings?”
One of the members, Charles Kelley, said “Shows, shows, shows!” and the other members Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott enthusiastically told me good luck.
After the questions, they sang the song “Dancing Away With My Heart”. Everyone in the room, including me, sang along to the tune. When Hillary’s solo part came up she looked at me and said “Take it away, singer!” I sang the line “I haven’t seen you in ages…” and the entire room burst into applause, even the band.
Hillary said, “Wow, I know who to call when I need a back up!”
It made me so happy I was shaking with excitement!
When the song was over, everyone lined up for a professional picture with the band. When it was my turn, I gave Hillary a hug saying thank you for this opportunity and immediately gave them my demo CD. They took it and said they will have to listen to it I know it is a one in a million chance they will listen to it, but I do know for sure they at least liked my voice. This was all I needed to know that I have a chance at this and I’m going to take it.
