Masterbrand recognizes Bachman’s efforts with $5,000 donation

MasterBrand Cabinets (MBCI), the City of Jasper, and the Jasper Fire Department are recognizing “Good Samaritan” and MBCI employee, Chris Bachman, for saving two residents from a recent house fire.

Bachman saw the smoke and flames coming from the second story of the home on Third Avenue last Wednesday on his way to work at about 4:45 a.m. After alerting authorities of the fire, he ran up to the house’s front door and notified the downstairs residents.

They were able to escape but the family of three in the upstairs apartment where the fire started perished in the fire.

“For more than 15 years, Chris Bachman has been a valued employee of the MasterBrand Cabinets’ family. Chris’ heroic actions last Wednesday reflect the characteristics he demonstrates every day. He is a great member of our team as well as to the community,” stated Dave Randich, President of MBCI.

In honor of Bachman’s selfless efforts to help save the lives of local residents, MBCI is making a $5,000 donation in Chris’s name to the Jasper Fire Department.

“Jasper has benefitted greatly from citizens who look out for their neighbors with optimum use of time, talents, and treasure. Mr. Bachman’s actions epitomize the kind of people who live here and work here and we’re deeply grateful for what he did last week,” stated Terry Seitz, Jasper Mayor.

The donation will be made at a special ceremony being held at the Decora manufacturing facility, 1491 Meridian Road, at 7 a.m. Tuesday, December 2.
