Armed robbery suspects arrested in Tennessee (Update)

coupleUpdate:

Knoxville, TN — U.S. Marshals arrested the pair suspected of robbing the Dale Pharmacy at gunpoint.

The pair were arrested in a raid on a motel room after they were involved in a chase and several accidents that began when a Knoxville police officer attempted to stop their vehicle for a registration violation.

According to Knoxville police, Sgt. Mike McCarter stopped the pair’s white 2005 Toyota Camry at about 5 p.m.. During the stop, the officer questioned the validity of the identification the driver presented, at which point the vehicle fled the scene.

Sgt. McCarter followed the car as it ignored a traffic signal and crashed into a 2004 Taurus sending a 7-year-old passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The chase continued and McCarter was able to follow the suspect vehicle’s route through witnesses and another crash. The suspect hit a 2005 Chrysler 300 that sent the driver and a 5-year-old child to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer then found the disabled Camry a bit later, the driver having fled on foot.

Later that day at about  8 p.m., U.S. Marshals and Knoxville Police Department officers raided a room at a Motel 6 and took Jacob D. Beyers, 26, and Mallory Ann Potts, a.k.a. Mallory Ann Johnson, 27, into custody on outstanding robbery warrants stemming from Spencer County, Indiana.

“Thank you to all of the people that called in with tips on who these individuals were. Without the public’s help, identifying and locating Beyers and Johnson would have been a lot more difficult,” Indiana State Police Master Trooper Detective Rob Gardner said.
