80s fun

Friday evening, the Jasper Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council hosted an 80s Fun Run to raise funds for a project supporting the new Ruxer Disc Golf Course.

Despite the cold, about 60 people took part in the run/walk on the Riverwalk and learned about the projects the council has taken on since being formed.

You can read more about the project here.

Members of the Dubois County Disc Golf Club were on hand to demonstrate the sport with a few portable baskets set up on the former golf course. Club Treasurer Chris Lubenow demonstrated a few throws during Friday evening’s event. The club is excited about adding the new course bringing the total to three in Dubois County. According to the members, the Ruxer course will combine technical features and long fairways for a varied experience for all ages of players.
The Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council plans to repair and refurbish two bridges on the course. A 3D model was on display in the former Ruxer pro shop.
