Michael E. Snyder, 68, of Pensacola, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2021.
Michael was born Jan. 15, 1953, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Pastor John and Mary Snyder.
After graduating from high school in Huntingburg, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for more than 20 years, achieving the rank of master sergeant before his retirement in 1991. He served during Desert Shield/Storm operations and was stationed in California, Maryland, Korea, Texas and Thailand, where he met the love of his life, Dawkhmai.
Additionally, Michael flew on Air Force One as a security officer for former Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George Bush, Sr. He loved to tell his family stories and express how much he loved flying.
After eight years he made the decision to stop flying to be closer with his family.
Michael and Dawkhmai dedicated their time serving the church and spending time with family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dawkhmai Snyder (Pensacola, Florida); brothers, Gerald and wife, Nancy, and children ( Waco, Texas), William Bruce and wife, Karen, and children (Huntingburg); his daughter, Kristy Snyder (Pensacola) and grandchildren Brenden (Pensacola), Clayton (Three Rivers, Michigan), Sidnee (Portage, Michigan) and Mckenzie (Pensacola); his son Michael John and his wife, Amanda (Ft. Walton Beach, Florida) along with their children Jake, Brantley, Hank, Sunshine and Leilani.
His family would like to thank his friends and wonderful church family at Olive Baptist church in Pensacola, as well as First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach for their love and support. The friendships that he made within the church meant the world to him.
Funeral services have already been held.
