A family wishes to thank the community and make an announcement

Victoria Grace Voegerl was born August 20. She was 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 1/2 inches. — Victoria Grace Voegerl was born August 20. She weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Paul Voegerl Jr. contacted the DC Free Press today to announce the arrival of Victoria Grace.

Victoria was born with a heart defect and went through corrective surgery on Friday, Aug. 31. She is on her way home from Kosair Children’s Hospital today.

Victoria’s late sister, Olivia Grace, lost her battle with a similar but more severe heart defect in January of this year. Olivia was born September 30, 2012 and completed several surgeries before finally succumbing to the defect.

Paul wanted to extend his family’s gratitude to the community for the help during Olivia’s battle and to notify them of the new addition to the family.

Paul works with his father, Paul Voegerl Sr., at Jasper Embroidery.

Victoria has a 4-year-old sister, Renee.
