Alberta A. “Bert” Klem, 92

Alberta A. “Bert” Klem, 92, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.
Bert was born on June 10, 1922 in Jasper, Indiana to John and Catherine (Kreilein) Vollmer. She married Lawrence M. Klem on April 14, 1972 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008.
She was a waitress at Beck’s Restaurant in Jasper for over 35 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and their St. Ann’s Society and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella.
She was also a member of the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary, and the Navy Club – Ship 90.
She enjoyed driving in the Indiana countryside, eating out for lunch, singing, and TV game shows and puzzle books.
She is survived by her caregiver and great-niece, Gail Eckerle and her husband Jerry of Eckerty; stepsons, Lawrence “Larry” Klem and his wife Patricia of Amarillo, Texas and Edward Klem and his wife Linda of Bella Vista, Ark.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death beside her husband was one sister, Lorena Seng and three brothers, Urban, Victor, and Linus Vollmer, and one infant brother, Albert Vollmer.
Funeral services for Bert Klem will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The St. Ann’s Society and the Jasper D of I will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. The VFW Post #673 Auxiliary will perform a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.
