Alma Irene Small, 92

Alma Irene Small, age 92, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 12:50 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born July 31, 1920 in Duff, Indiana. Her parents were Harry and Alma (Hilgeman) Sunderman. Alma married Herman Small on October 29, 1938 in Huntingburg.
She was a cook and a homemaker. Alma was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and the Salem Women’s Guild; the Friendly Neighbor’s Home Economics Club; the Dubois County Extension Homemakers; actively participated in the Dubois County 4-H Club for many years; and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Herman Small Sr., who passed away March 21, 1998; one sister, Irene Conrad; one son-in-law, Bob Lichlyter; and one grandson, Kurt Lichlyter.
She is survived by:

- Donna (Leroy) Gehlhausen – Jasper, IN
Two sons and two daughter-in-laws,
- David (Sheryl) Small – Tampa, FL
- Herman “Junior” (Janis) Small, Jr. – Tampa, FL
One brother,
Marvin Sunderman – Evansville, IN
by (13) grandchildren, (40) great grandchildren, (2) step great grandchildren, and (1) great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Alma Irene Small will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mayo Cemetery near Duff. The Rev. Mark West and Rev. Mike Thompson will officiate the services.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday; and also at Salem United Church of Christ from 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Northwood Retirement Community or Salem United Church of Christ.
