The Patoka Valley Amateur Radio Club (PVARC) is offering a series of six weekly classes for people that want to earn the Technician Class amateur radio license.
This license is the first of three licenses available to ham radio operators, and the privileges include the use of portable and mobile radios, local repeaters (including some that permit worldwide contacts) and satellite communication. Some limited access to the high-Frequency bands also provides an introduction to national and global communication.
The class focuses on passing the Technician Class FCC license test, a multiple-choice test with no morse code requirement. The week after the last class will be a testing session that provides the students the opportunity to take the FCC license test and obtain their Technician Class license. The class is taught by experienced ham radio operators, and provides a great way to meet other like-minded people and become a member of the PVARC.
