Anna Mae Betz, 96, Schnellville

Anna Mae Betz, 96, Schnellville, passed away at 8:17 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Timbers of Jasper.

Anna Mae was born on June 5, 1919 in Schnellville, Indiana to Henry and Frances (Loechte) Verkamp. She married Jerome H. Betz on June 9, 1942 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1997.

Anna Mae was a homemaker and a cook for Betz’s Butcher Shop for many years. She was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine and their St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and playing cards.

She is survived by two daughters, Doretha Boeglin and husband Erwin of Ferdinand and Lou Alice Dilger and husband Sam of Mariah Hill; four sons, Ernest Betz and wife Donna Kay of Celestine, Ralph Betz of Celestine, Marvin Betz and wife Phyllis of Celestine and Leroy Betz and wife Jenny of Celestine; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one sister Alberta Betz and two brothers, Leo and Oscar Verkamp.

Funeral services for Anna Mae Betz will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN. The St. Celestine St. Anne’s Society will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.
