Barn fire filled Jasper with smoke Friday night

A barn fire on Ackerman Road filled Jasper with smoke on Friday night.

The Jasper Volunteer Fire Departement responded to Mill Creek Farms at 5:57 p.m. when wet hay bales inside a barn there spontaneously ignited. In the resulting fire the barn burned to the ground.

The Haysville and Ireland Volunteer Fire Departments were called to provide extra tanker trucks.

Fire fighters were on scene for about three hours.
