Betty A. Mehringer, 74, Ireland

Betty A. Mehringer, 74, of Ireland, Ind., passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

Betty was born in Huntingburg on September 15, 1943, to Fred and Frances (Mehling) Dilger. She married Kenneth C. Mehringer on May 20, 1967, in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2017.

Betty retired as the laundry manager for the Providence Home in Jasper. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and their St. Anne’s Society.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and I.U. Basketball fan. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, bingo, and community fish fries.

Surviving is her son, Brian K. Mehringer of Ireland; daughter, Amy J. Eger (Brian) of Evansville; two grandchildren, Jarod and Lauren Eger; one brother, James Dilger (Linda) of St. Meinrad; one sister-in-law, Linda Underhill (Johnny) of Ferdinand.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was one brother, Charles Dilger.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty A. Mehringer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Mary’s St. Anne’s Society will pray the rosary at 3:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Southern Indiana Special Olympics, or a favorite charity.
