Charles Whitson, 76

Charles Whitson, 76 of Jasper, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 29, 2014 .

He was born at Floyd Knobs Indiana on April 26, 1938 to Edward and Emma (Campbell) Whitson. He married Stella Smith October 31, 1959; she preceded him in death on December 16, 2009.

Charles served in the U.S. Army and retired from Valspar Paint Company in Jasper.

He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and square dancing.

He is survived by two daughters, Julie Nonte and her husband Dr. Bruce, of Ferdinand; Connie Matheis and her husband Greg, of Jasper; son, Jeff Whitson and his wife Nancy, of Jasper; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Carol Bentley and Dave, of Palmyra, Betty Jacobs, of Borden, Ind., Patty Rudolph, of Palmyra, and Peggy Sellmer and husband Kenny, of Jeffersonville, Ind.; brothers, Johnny Whitson and wife June, of Bordon, Ind.

Preceding him in death besides his wife is one brother Billy Whitson.

Funeral services for Charles Whitson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, in St. Mary Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, (June 1, 2014), at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.
