Jasper native Chelsea Gill’s video ode to Jason Segel getting national attention

When Jasper native Chelsea Gill set out to impress her favorite actor, it worked better than she could have dreamed.  Not only did she gain the attention of the object of her affection, but she now has a national audience waiting with baited breath for his response.

Using the power of YouTube and Twitter, Gill’s guitar ballad for “How I Met Your Mother” star Jason Segel has spread like wildfire through cyberspace and currently has over 37,000 views on YouTube.  The video has been featured on multiple national news sites, including “The Huffington Post,” which called the ballad “adorable,” and “Entertainment Weekly” website PopWatch , which could only refer to it as, “In a word: Awesomeness.”

The best compliment, though, came from Segel himself, who was thoroughly flattered by the Indiana University graduate’s musical invitation out to drinks.  On Wednesday, the actor posted the video on his own Twitter account, calling it, “My favorite thing, maybe ever.  I am in awe.  Response on the way — I’m gonna need a couple days on this one.”

Gill and the rest of her followers now look forward to a reply from the creative mind behind “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Muppets,” which is sure to be worth the wait.
