City of Jasper building new restroom facility at Central Green

The City of Jasper is constructing a new restroom facility at Central Green, the city’s newest park.

Park and Recreations director Ken Buck said the building will improve what has already become a unique gathering area. “This will be a family restroom with accessibility meeting ADA standards to best serve our citizens.”

The restroom will be located in the southwest quadrant of the park near the existing utility control system. The project is being paid for from private donations rather than tax dollars with work to be done by Jasper Lumber Company, city utilities and park maintenance crews. Work is expected to commence in October.

“We are very grateful for private citizens to support such a public asset like Central Green”, said Mayor Terry Seitz. “It once again highlights the generosity of our community.”

Located on West 6th Street in downtown Jasper, Central Green provides a passive park experience with a walking trail, mature trees, benches and a fountain. In two short years it has quickly become a focal point for Jasper residents and visitors.
