City of Jasper welcomes summer interns

Jasper — The City of Jasper has hired three interns for the summer of 2023 within the Community Development/Planning, Legal, and Arts Departments.

The City of Jasper welcomes Cameron Weisheit as the Community Development and Planning Intern. Under the guidance of the Director of Community Development and Planning, Darla Blazey, Cameron will assist with communication efforts related to the Courthouse Square Infrastructure and Revitalization Project, develop guidelines and marketing for the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area district, and finalize a New Business Guide for the city.

Weisheit, a resident of Jasper, is a third-year pre-law student at Purdue University, where he is double majoring in Political Science and Economics. He is also pursuing a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. On campus, he is a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, where he has served as both Secretary and Standards-Board Chairman, and Pi Sigma Alpha.

The City of Jasper would also like to welcome Drew O’Neil as the Legal Intern. Under the guidance of City Attorney Renee Kabrick, Drew will assist in the daily operations of the department and the greater city government. This summer, he will be assisting with The Regional Wellness Center, forming the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas in Jasper, and implementing Microsoft Planner in the Legal Department.

O’Neil, from Jasper, is a fourth-year pre-law student at Indiana University, where he is studying Accounting with plans to go to law school after graduation. He is also a member of Phi Alpha Delta and the Pre-Law Association.

The Jasper Arts Department is pleased to welcome Ava Harmon as the Arts Intern. Under the guidance of Kyle Rupert, Ava will be leading a collaborative art project at Camp Create inspired by works from M.C. Escher. She will also be using her time to teach children who visit the Arts Center.

Harmon, also from Jasper, is in her second year at the University of Southern Indiana, where she is pursuing a degree in Studio Art with minors in Spanish and Art History. She is a part of USI’s Spanish Club where she acts as club Historian.
