Claretta L. Wagner, 85, Jasper, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Claretta was born in Jasper, Indiana on March 8, 1931, to Sylvester and Pauline (Mundy) Vogler. She married Joseph B. Wagner on April 18, 1953. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2012.

She graduated from Jasper High School in 1949. Claretta worked as a cook at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant in Jasper and as a bus driver for SIRS. She was a charter member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, and a member of the Ladies Sodality, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. She was awarded the Brute Society Award from Precious Blood Catholic Church. She enjoyed needlework, embroidering, reading, flowers and spending time with her family.

Surviving are four daughters, Barb Bartley (Rick) of Jasper, Karen Ackerman (Dean) of Vincennes, Martha Rasche (Donny) of Ferdinand and Diane Schaffer of Dayton, Ohio; three sons, John Wagner of Jasper, Michael W. Wagner (Jane) of Jasper and Mark Wagner (Michelle) of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; two sisters, Betty Seifert of Jasper and Anna Mae Singer of Jasper; one brother, Sylvester Vogler Jr. (Connie) of Huntingburg.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one brother, Bill Vogler.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Claretta L. Wagner will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church.
