Construction begins on new Zaxby’s

Construction on the new Zaxby’s is underway in Jasper.

The fast-casual chain known for its Chicken Fingerz, wings, signature sauces, and Zalads will open in a lot just north of the Applebee’s restaurant.

Partners Jerry Ayres and Steve Brewer announced plans to bring the new store to Dubois County earlier this year. The partners operate seven stores located in Indiana and Kentucky.

Ayres is looking forward to getting established in Dubois County. “The Zaxby’s brand and our company is focused on getting into and supporting small communities,” he said. “We love the small community feel of Jasper and we think we will be a great fit.”

Zaxby’s Signature Sandwich

Zaxby’s is known for their chicken fingers but Ayres says the recently added Signature Sandwich will become a customer favorite. “It is unbelievable,” he said.

The Signature Sandwich features double hand-breaded 100 percent white breast meat and is served on a new buttery, toasted split-top bun with three thick-sliced pickle chips and a choice of Zax Sauce or Spicy Zax Sauce.

Along with the great menu, the Jasper location will be the first restaurant featuring a completely updated design and new services. In addition to indoor dining options, the store will have a double drive-thru lane, and when customers pull up, they will be met by someone who takes their order personally.

The new store will employ 40 to 60 people in full and part-time positions when it gets up and running.

Lucas James, a longtime employee in Ayres’ organization, is from Jasper and he’s been talking the town up with Ayres for a while. After making a few visits to the area and meeting with folks, Ayres said he was struck by the friendliness and great atmosphere Jasper offers.

“We are excited to get up there and serve the best chicken in town,” Ayres said.

Along with providing a great product, Ayres said he is known for being a big supporter of youth sports where the other restaurants are located and he plans on bringing that same commitment to Jasper.
