Authorities have released the identities of the couple involved in the fatal crash south of Jasper on State Road 162 Tuesday afternoon.
Larry J. Fogleman, 66, and his wife, Nancy E. Fogleman, 62, both of Greenwood, Ind., were northbound on State Road 162 at about 3:45 p.m. when Mr. Fogleman lost control of the couple’s 2005 Buick LaCrosse due to a medical condition south of Schnellville Road.
The car veered off the east side of the road and went down an embankment rolling several times before coming to rest on its roof. The Foglemans were trapped in the overturned car.
When deputies and Jasper Volunteer Fire Department First Responders arrived on scene a few moments after the crash, they found Mr. Fogleman unconscious in the vehicle and Mrs. Fogleman awake and alert. The couple was extricated from the vehicle and after being treated at the scene, taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.
According to authorities, Mr. Fogleman passed away due to the medical condition. Mrs. Fogleman suffered minor abrasions, police said.
After the crash, State Road 162 was shut down for about 40 minutes while the scene was cleared. Jasper police diverted traffic at the Schnellville intersection and Indiana State Police stopped traffic south of the crash site.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted at the scene.
Mrs. Fogleman had requested police withhold their identities pending notification of family members.
