Cyrine B. Haas, 88

Cyrine B. Haas, age 88, of Schnellville, Indiana passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Thursday (February 28, 2013) at home.
Cyrine was born in Schnellville, IN on April 14, 1924 to Anthony F. and Rose (Dudine) Haas. He married his wife of 54 years, Esther Becher on August 7, 1954 at St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2008.
He was a life-long farmer and a former fireman for the Schnellville Volunteer Fire Dept, where he served from 1966-1983. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, the Men’s Church Choir for many years, the Schnellville Community Club, Schnellville Conservation Club, and a 50-year member of the Jasper Council #1584 Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed farming, working in the garden, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by five daughters, Lou Ann Weyer and husband Ron of Ferdinand, Donna Lamkin and husband Curt of Ferdinand, Connie Hopf and husband John of Bretzville, Sharon Fischer and husband Mark of Schnellville, and Linda Welp and husband Greg of Bretzville; two sons, Tom Haas and wife Cheryl of Schnellville, Danny Haas, and wife Marla of Celestine; 16 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Cyrine was the last surviving member of his family. Preceding him in death are five sisters, Catherine Hildesheim, Agnes Haas, Frances Schulz, and two that died in infancy, and three brothers, Alois, Hermingild, and George Haas.
Funeral services for Cyrine B. Haas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (March 4, 2013) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday (March 3, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel and one hour before services at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. The District #18 Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighter’s Association will hold a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m.
