Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140 meeting notes
The Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140 met for their monthly meeting on February 14, at the St. Joe’s Parish Center. Regent Kathy Schneider called the meeting to order. Chancellor Bev Himsel led the prayer and all members recited the pledge to the flag.
Draping of the Charter was held for deceased members Mary T. Fuhs and Karen S. Young.
Application for membership was read and approved, followed by Short Form Conferral for new member Sarah Kaprzak. All members participated in saying the Obligation with the new member.
Regent Schneider invited all to offer special intention prayers. Prayers were said for all intentions.
Secretary Pam Schneider read the Roll of Officers. Followed by the minutes from the January meeting. Treasurer Rose Rasche gave the Report of the Treasurer.
Regent Schneider read communication received from International Regen Suzanna Suchy. She invited all Circles to pray for those working on the planning for the International Convention to be held in Toronto August 6-11. Other correspondence received was read by Secretary Schneider. Thank you notes were received from Fathers Erbacher and Thomas for the Christmas gift from the Circle, a financial statement received from St. Joseph Church for our donation to their Our Time building project, and two requests for youth organizations.
Quarterly Reports were given by Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer and Treasurer Rose Rasche. Mehringer thanked members that have paid their dues. Membership cards have arrived and they will be sent out. Auditor Sharon Gramelspacher found the books to be in order.
Under Standing Committee, Visitation of the sick was discussed. Due to Covid, the visits to the nursing homes was again limited. The Circle hopes to visit members in April. Visiting in April will be Nancy Marks and Patty Bailey. Vice Regent Beckman will notify them on status of visitation.
A prayer was said for membership lead by Chancellor Himsel.
Under Social Activities the D of I Card Party was discussed. The Card Party will be March 30, 2022, at the Jasper Moose Family Center. The public is invited. Doors will open at 6:00pm. Cost is $3 per person. Desserts and Coffee will be served. Sandwiches and drinks will be available for purchase from the Moose kitchen. Regent Schneider asked members present to help with the evening by providing desserts and helping with fundraisers, serving sandwiches and attending the evening. Contact Regent Kathy Schneider if you would be able to help in any way with the evening. Kathy Bachman had also made flyers and Schneider has them available for distribution. The Starry Night Travelling Nativity will go home with Chris Schuetter. The Mother’s Day dinner will be held on May 9, 2022. The Circle will be recognizing the 125th Anniversary of the International Charter.
A prayer for youth was offered.
Scribe Kathy Bachman read Resolutions of the deaths of Mary T. Fuhs and Karen S. Young. She also reported that each resolution sent to the bereaved family contained an invitation to attend the D of I Memorial Mass on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 6:30pm at St. Joe’s Church.
