Dennis C. Balsmeyer, 87

Dennis C. Balsmeyer, 87, of Holland, Indiana, passed away at 8:25 p.m., on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

He was born July 9, 1927 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Omer and Nettie (Meyer) Balsmeyer.

He married Helen M. Bohnenkemper on May 6, 1951 at Salem Church in Huntingburg.

Dennis was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland and the Kiwanis Club; was a former school board member for the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation; and was an avid gardener and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Balsmeyer, who passed away February 17, 2008; three infant sons, Gary, Kevin & Rex Balsmeyer; and one brother, Glen Balsmeyer.

He is survived by three daughters and three son-in-laws, Gail Kunz and her husband, Don,of Georgetown, Ind., Cathi Broeker and her husband Raven, of Summerfield, N.C., and Janet Charlton and her husband, Greg, of Petersburg; two brothers and two sister-in-laws, Eugene Balsmeyer and his wife, Joann, of Huntingburg and Allen Balsmeyer and his wife, Nancy, of Holland; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Land and Joan Leistner, both of Holland; by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dennis C. Balsmeyer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland, Indiana, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., Wednesday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. All public Visitation will be held at St. Paul UCC the morning of the funeral; there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
