Dennis Ofer

Dennis L. Ofer, age 64, of Jasper passed away Wednesday (February 22, 2012) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on July 20, 1947 to Bernard and Mary (Kern) Ofer. He married Darlene Schnaus on May 1, 1971 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. Dennis owned and operated Denny Ofer Novelties. He was a graduate of Dale High school and was a Veteran, who served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the American Legion Post #147, Jasper Moose Lodge, Ireland Sportsman Club, and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation. His hobbies included coin collecting and playing cards.

Funeral services for Dennis L. Ofer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (February 25, 2012) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The America Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 12:00-8:00 p.m. Friday (February 24, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, or the Dubois County Leukemia Association.
