Diana “Cricket” L. Cook, 80, of Birdseye, passed away at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at The Timbers of Jasper.
She was born March 15, 1936, in Newton Stuart, Indiana, to James Douglas and Ora (Hollen) McFarland. She married Clifton Clarence “Jack” Cook, Jr. on June 29, 1952, at Wickliffe.
Diane had worked at Gossards and later, as a cook at Pine Ridge Elementary School. She was a member of New Hope General Baptist Church in Birdseye where she sang in the choir. She was a campground host at Bear Lake and Indian Celina Lake in Perry County. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cross stitch, camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Cliff and Doug Cook.
She is survived by her husband, Clifton “Jack” Cook, a daughter, Mary (Eli) Snelling of Wickliffe; a sister, Faye Weightman of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Dawn (Joe) Detty of Birdseye, Shawn (Angie) Cook of Velpen, Shanna (Chad) Cook of Jasper, Erica (Ryan) Scherzinger of Jasper, Chris (Ashley) Cook of Newburgh, Andy (Dana) Snelling of Wickliffe, David (Shelley) Neukam of Celestine, Mike (Candance) Neukam of Memphis, Tennessee; 14 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kristen Detty; Levi, Wyatt and Grace Allinger; Hunter and Evan Snelling; Paige, Meredith and Grayson Cook; Nichole Hunter; Landon Harlee; Marshal Scherzinger; Dawson McBride; a great-great-grandson, Keaton Neukam.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. EST Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the New Hope General Baptist Church in Birdseye with burial to follow at Birdseye Cemetery. Reverend Albert Madden will officiate the service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
