Digital magazine highlights Southern Indiana artists

An artist in Crawford County has created a bimonthly digital magazine highlighting artists in Southern Indiana.

Keith J. Hampton is a retired graphic designer and artist from Indianapolis who started Artists Creating to feature insight into the work of artists and other creatives. Each issue features interviews, poetry, as well as contacts for artists throughout the region.

“I started it because when I moved down here in 2017, I could not find artists or any kind of art community,” Hampton said. “I would look online for any type of index or gathering of creative people and it just was not there.”

His goal is for the magazine to become a central place for creatives to find buyers, galleries and each other. Since launching, the listing now has more than 160 galleries and creative people in Southern Indiana and it includes artists, writers, musicians and more.

“It’s really fun to help give people something free and give them a way to reach people without having to jump through hoops and pay,” Hampton said. “I’m a gate-keeper of sorts, but a very friendly one who leaves the gate wide open. The response has been tremendous and very gratifying for me.”

The magazine is completely free and delivered by email to subscribers.

If you are a professional or emerging artist, Hampton accepts submissions by email.
