Edward A. Wening, 83, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

Ed was born in Portersville, Indiana on February 21, 1932 to Leo and Annetta (Kieffner) Wening. He married Ioma D. Sendelweck on April 26, 1955, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville.

Ed was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer with his family farm, Wening Farms. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, where he served as president and other positions throughout the years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #147, the Moose Lodge #1175, and the Jasper German Club.

He enjoyed farming, dancing, card playing and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ioma Wening of Jasper; one daughter, Brenda L. Pfister and her husband Joe of Carmel; one son, Brent Wening and his wife Joanie of Jasper; five grandchildren, Byron and Tyler Wening, and Nicholas, Kenwyn, and Kendall Pfister; one great grandson, Jayce Wening; one sister, Lovella Nigg of Jasper.

Funeral services for Edward A. Wening will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Jasper Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, The American Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or to a favorite charity.
