Flood zone along St. Charles to be revised

The City of Jasper will revise the flood zone hazard information, generally located between St. Charles Street and Rolling Ridge Road along Jasper Drain from the mouth of the stream to the upstream side of the St. Charles Street Bridge.

As a result of the revision, the floodway shall be correctly aligned with the stream, the Base (1% annual chance) Flood Elevations (BFEs) shall decrease, and the 1% annual chance floodplain shall narrow within the area of revision.

An open house will be held on Tuesday, December 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Pfaffenweiler Room of the City Hall, 610 Main Street in Jasper, Indiana for those who would like to learn more about how this revision may affect them.

Computer stations will be set up for property owners to review the revisions and discuss any concerns, one-on-one, with engineers who are knowledgeable with the floodplain map revision process.  Interested individuals may come anytime between 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm to view the floodplain map revisions.

There will be no formal presentation at the open house.
