Friday: One new Covid-19 case in Dubois County

Friday, the Indiana State Department of Health recorded one new Covid-19 case in Dubois County.

The total number of cases in the county stands at 6,199 since the pandemic began with 117 deaths related to the virus.

Data can be viewed at the ISDH Covid-19 Dashboard. It is updated daily at noon.

The state has opened up vaccinations to Hoosiers age 12 and older. The Moderna vaccine is not approved for individuals under 18 years of age; individuals age 12 through 17 are only eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine and should search for a site that lists PVAX or ask 211 for a site offering the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccination clinics that are part of the federal vaccine program, including those at Meijer and Kroger, appear on the clinic map at https://ourshot.in.gov but are scheduled through those retailers’ platforms, not through the state centralized system.

To avoid lines, please show up at your appointment time.

There is no cost for the vaccine to the individual, but insurance may be charged an administration fee. Individuals should bring a photo ID and an insurance card if they have one.

The COVID-19 testing site at the former Ruxer Golf Course building in Jasper is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. It is closed on Sunday and Monday. It closes for lunch daily from 1 to 2 p.m.

Register for an appointment for a PCR COVID-19 test at https://scheduling.coronavirus.in.gov/. You will have to click “I don’t have an invitation code.” If you do not have internet you can call the primary phone at 812-329-0523. If no one answers, leave a message and they will call you back. Results should be available within 72 hours. If you do not get your results, you can call the Indiana State Department of Health at 1-877-826-0011.

Testing is for anyone who lives or works in Indiana. Anyone can be tested, even those not showing symptoms. There is no charge for the testing. However, if you do have private health care insurance, you are asked to bring that to the testing site.
