Habitat for Humanity hosting dedication for new home in Jasper
Habitat for Humanity of Dubois County (HFHDC) will dedicate the eighteenth home in Dubois County on Sunday, January 31, 2021.
The public is invited to join the celebration online at 3:00 p.m. It will be streamed live on the Habitat for Humanity of Dubois County Facebook page at facebook.com/DuboisHabitat.
You will be able to learn more about our newest Habitat Homeowner, Jaime, see the home, and learn more about homeownership through HFHDC. Jaime has completed more than 300 hours of sweat equity and will receive the keys to her new home as part of the celebration.
This year’s home was built through a partnership with Patoka Valley School Cooperative and Vincennes University-Jasper to support the efforts of high students looking to enter the local workforce by having a joint build process with Habitat volunteers, school instructors and students. Student participants learned and practiced skills from the classroom in a real-world situation and were able to be part of something they help build that will last.
Celebrating its 25th year anniversary in 2020, HFHDC has a mission of providing a hand up to people in the community to acquire and own decent and affordable housing, both through new home builds and home repairs.
