Healing Arts Place has Ribbon Cutting today

In the final month of Mayor William Schmitt’s twenty year career as Mayor of Jasper he has a couple of ribbon cuttings left to do. Today he cut a tinsel ribbon for the grand opening of Healing Arts Place on 706 Main St.
Tracy Wright started Healing Arts Place to help individuals dealing with sickness or pain through art. Wright specializes in healing touch, a form of healing that occurs through touching, but her new business is designed to provide spiritual healing as well.
Linda Fullington, one of Wright’s clients and friends, explained that she was having trouble dealing with her cancer and the effect it had on her life. Although she had beat her cancer, she continued to fear its return. “I had never done any artwork and Tracy just asked if I could draw a circle, I said ‘yes’ and so we started with a simple bookmark.”
Linda had more art on display today. She was showing a painting that appeared to be a feathers lying on top of each other. Each stroke a different bright color. Linda then pointed out the shapes that had formed in the piece of art a cross with Jesus upon it, the wings of an angel, and more devotions to her faith were apparent in the piece. “Tracy looked at it and she pointed these things out to me.” Through this art Linda was able to heal spiritually.
Linda is just one of many that have found Wright’s special form of healing. The walls are papered with painting, photos, and drawings. Sculpture, jewelry, and glass cover every flat surface in the building.
Healing Arts Place is open special hours for O’Tannenbaum Days and will host music and demonstrations all weekend.
