Jack R. McCune, 69, passed away peacefully at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Jack was born in Cuzco, Indiana on August 28, 1944 to Victor and Ada (Owen) McCune.

Jack was a self-employed manufacturer’s representative for nearly 40 years, mostly for the Jasper Rubber Company, where he had worked from several years previously. He was also a sports broadcaster for 20 years on WITZ , and is most fondly remembered for his work as color commentator, alongside Bob Simmers, covering Jasper High School football.

Jack was an avid sports and games enthusiast, and enjoyed competitions of all types, both as a competitor and spectator, with the exception of soccer, which he could not abide.

Jack was a bon vivant, raconteur, and fantastic cook, as family, friends, and neighbors can attest.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Jasper, the American Legion Post #147, and the Jasper Moose. Jack also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He is survived by one son, Jason McCune of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two grandsons, Curran and Hal McCune, along with their mother, Sharon McCune, all of Pittsburgh, Penn.; three sisters, JoAnn Cramer, and her husband, Bob, of Terre Haute, and Arlene Schneider, of Jasper, and his twin sister, Judy McCune, of Salem; two brothers, Duane McCune, and his wife Patty, of Cuzco, and Max McCune, and his wife, Mary Ruth, of Jasper.
