Family Storytime– Tuesdays at 10am

 MakerSpace Office Hours – Wednesdays & Thursdays from 1-4pm – MakerSpace Office Hours allow Makers to stop by and get more assistance with DIY projects and get answers to questions. Staff will be in the MakerSpace during this time to offer a little more one-on-one time. Call ahead or drop by for help. 

Curiosity Café for Teens- Thursdays at 4pm – Teens will enjoy a variety of different activities each week including: snacks, crafts, and games. 

Mommy & Me – Tuesdays, October 5 th & 12th at 1pm Creative Thoughts Counseling Center, LLC is partnering with the Jasper Public library to offer a free new Mommy’s group for women with children under one year. Our goal for the group is to create a supportive place for new mothers to get some new information and perspectives while connecting with other new moms in the area. The group will meet Tuesdays from 1-2 PM for a total of 5 topics/weeks. Bringing babies and toddlers is encouraged based on level of parental comfort and community Covid recommendations. 

MakerSpace Demonstrations- Tuesdays, October 5th, 12th, 19th – 11am Different machines & projects will be demonstrated. 

Home School Connections- Mondays, Oct. 25th; Nov. 8th & 22nd ; Dec. 6th & 20th at 1pm Homeschool families are invited to join us for an afternoon of learning and making connections within the homeschool community. Jasper Public Library in coordination with Jasper Community Arts will be presenting a rotating series of homeschool programs that are open to all ages of homeschoolers. The rotation includes STEM, history and geography, art, and literature. The first session will be a meet and greet for families and the instructors. Please Register 

Duplo Club (Ages 2-5)- Friday, October 1st at 10am The library will provide the larger Duplos to build different projects and just have fun with other kids. 

Coffee, Cards, & Coloring- Friday, October 1st at 10am Join us for a morning of card making, coffee, and coloring. This crafting event is free for adults and teens. 

Family History Together- Saturday, October 2nd at 9:30am Learn a set of activities that you can share with family members to help spark an interest in genealogy. Share your own favorites and pick up some new ideas for the upcoming holiday gatherings. 

Sewing for Beginners- Monday, October 4th at 6pm Sew a throw pillow using straight seams and minimal hand sewing. No sewing experience is necessary. All materials will be supplied. This program is for those ages 12 and up. Please register. 

Genealogy Volunteer Meeting- Tuesday, October 5th @ 9:30am Meet with other library patrons interested in doing volunteer work on a regular basis in the Genealogy Room. We will look at the projects planned for this fall and winter, and determine who might be interested in working on the project or helping others to complete a project that will benefit anyone coming in to research family histories. 

Tri-Cap & You – Tuesday, October 5th at 6pm All adults are welcome to join us for an evening of learning what Tri-Cap can offer you. They specialize in assisting with housing, education, budgeting, and health services. 

Knot Just Knitting – Wednesday, October 6th at 11am This is a group of knitters/crocheters/weavers/in general crafters, that will be meeting monthly to share in projects, patterns and friendly conversation while we each work on individual projects. 

Intro to Computers- Wednesday, October 6th at 2pm Adults are invited to join us for an introduction class in how to use computers. This class will cover any basic help that you might need for computer usage. Please Register

Teen Craft Buffet- Wednesday, October 6th at 4pm Teens and tweens are invited to join us for an afternoon of crafting. Choose one of several different crafts to make and take. This is a drop in style event. Make sure you wear clothes that you can paint in. This is a free event and available while supplies last.

Teen Advisory Board- Thursday, October 7th at 6pm The purpose of the group is to allow teens to have a say and a part in the teen programming and materials at the library. If you are interested in joining, email vlucchi@jdcpl.us to inquire about an application. 

Genealogy 101- Thursday, October 7th at 6pm The Jasper-Dubois County Library provides free access to the UniversalClass list of courses that you can take on a variety of subjects. Come to this program, offered to introduce you to the 13 lessons of the Genealogy 101 class. Please Register 

Genealogy: Virtual DNA Workshop- Saturday, October 9th at 11am This FREE virtual workshop focuses on effectively using DNA to better understand genetic relationships and solve genealogy mysteries. Please Register 

Monday, October 11th – CLOSED-Staff Development Day 

Paint & Design Autumn Décor- Tuesday, October 12th at 6pm All adults are invited to a night of painting and designing. We will be painting a flour sack towel and designing a fall wall hanging. Come, relax, and paint with us! 

STEM Playtime- Wednesday, October 13th at 10am Have fun playing with our STEM toys. For children and their caregivers. 

Craft of the Month Club (Grades (K-4) – Wednesday, October 13th at 6pm The library is starting a Craft of the Month Club for kids in grades K-4, where we will offer a different craft each month for them to join us and make. For September, we will be making Monster Rocks. Please Register. 

Afternoon Book Club- Thursday, October 14th at 3pm New members are welcome. Pick up a copy of the book at the library. This month we will be discussing The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett 

Genealogy Interest Group: Photography- Thursday, October 14th at 6pm Share how you have seen photography used to enhance your family history stories and discover ways to include them in your family tree. Discuss locating and preserving old family photos and sharing with family one-of-a-kind photos. Please Register 

Bingo & Coffee- Friday, October 15th at 6pm All adults and teens are invited to a morning of bingo and coffee. There will be prizes for winners! 

Nailed It! Family Event- Monday, October 18th at 2pm This fun program is inspired by the Netflix show “Nailed It” which features amateur bakers trying to make crazy cakes and treats. This family event will feature trying to make book covers from the supplies provided. Please Register

STEM Fun:- Monday, October 18th at 5:30pm For ages 8-12. Learn how to use the Library robots around the MakerSpace! 

Lego Club- Tuesday, October 19th at 2pm Kids in grades kindergarten and up are invited to stop in for some Lego fun. The library will provide legos to build with. Projects will be displayed out in the library for others to see.

Adventurescapes- Tuesday, October 19th at 6pm All adults are welcome to join us for an adventure escape. We will explore a different country each month. We will use our senses to travel and enjoy a new destination. Please Register 

The UnBook Club for Teens- Wednesday, October 20th at 4pm With The Unbook Club, Book Club, participants are allowed to read whatever book they want that fits within the genre or theme of the month. Participants will rate their books as read worthy or not. There will be activities and snacks that fit in with the theme of the month.

Sensory Storytime- Wednesday, October 20th at 6:30pm The library is offering this Sensory Friendly Storytime for children ages 8 and under. This storytime is meant to be a safe place for children with sensory processing differences or other challenging conditions wanting to participate in a calm sensory-friendly storytime. We will have stories, songs and play! Limit of 8 children and their caregivers. Please Register 

Baby Playtime- Thursday, October 21st at 10am We invite parents/caregivers and their little ones for some socializing during our Playtime. Age appropriate toys and books will be available in the programming room to enjoy some time with other children and parents/caregivers. 

Genealogy 101 – Thursday, October 21st at 6pm The Jasper-Dubois County Library provides free access to the Universa lClass list of courses that you can take on a variety of subjects. Come to this program, offered to introduce you to the 13 lessons of the Genealogy 101 class. Please Register 

Smash Brothers Tournament- Friday, October 22nd at 1pm The Jasper Public Library invites 8 – 16 year olds to join us for a Smash Brothers Tournament on the Switch. There will be a prize for the winner. Please Register Family 

Pumpkin Painting- Saturday, October 23rd at 10am All ages are invited to stop by outside the library for some fun pumpkin painting. All painting and craft supplies will be available. Please bring your own pumpkins. 

Halloween Hoopla- Sunday, October 24 th at 2pm Families are invited to stop by the library anytime from 2-4 for some fun games, crafts, and to get their Halloween treat bag. Wear your Halloween Costume! 

MakerSpace STEM Club – Monday, October 25th at 5:30pm Youth 10+ are invited to come into the MakerSpace and join the Maker community. This is an exploration time for the group, formal instruction will be limited. The size, interests, and previous experience of the group will determine where we place our focus. Participants will need a waiver signed which can be picked up at library our printed from the library’s website. 

Evening Book Club- Tuesday, October 26th @ 6:30pm Join the discussion. Stop by the Library and checkout a copy of this month’s book selection from Library staff. New members are always welcome. Winter’s Bone by Daniel Woodrell will be discussed. 

Genealogy: Digging Up Mummies- Thursday, October 28th at 6pm Erin Doyle, will provide a program on how to locate women’s information in family research. (women, mothers, mommies…mummies!) Discover some TRICKS that will help to TREAT the women in your family trees with respect they deserve. Please Register Coffee,

 Cards, & Coloring- Friday, October 29th at 10am Join us for a morning of card making, coffee, and coloring. This crafting event is free for adults and teens.
