Jasper resident acquitted in rape case

A jury found Liam Kibby, 20, not guilty on all charges related to a case in which he was accused of rape, strangulation, criminal confinement and sexual battery.

Kibby’s trial occurred last week. He was initially arrested in August of 2022 when the allegations were reported by the female accuser. After police investigators interviewed Kibby, they filed preliminary charges for the previously mentioned crimes.

Kibby had been held in the Dubois County Security Center since the arrest on August 29, 2022. He was released on March 8.
