Jerome O. Nordhoff, 77, of Birdseye, passed away at 8:47 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Cathedral Health Care in Jasper.

He was born at Celestine on June 5, 1941, to Frank G. and Philomena M. “Minnie” (Hasenour) Nordhoff. He married Rita Laake on August 26, 1967, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.

Jerome was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and was owner and operator of the Jerome’s Home Construction Company.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Sacred Heart Campus, Schnellville, Indiana – Builders Association of Dubois County, St. Anthony Conservation Club and the American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper.

Jerome enjoyed hunting, fishing and good times with family.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Nordhoff; daughter, Ruth Vanwinkle (David) of Birdseye; son, Jerome Nordhoff Jr. (Michelle) of Jasper; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Doris Klem Weyer of St. Anthony, Vernita Klem, (Alvin) of St. Anthony and Marilyn Fleck (Tom) of Huntingburg; three brothers,
Clarence Nordhoff (Verena) of Celestine, Robert Nordhoff (Janice) of Jasper and Herbert Nordhoff; sister-in-law, Pat Nordhoff of Ferdinand.

Preceding him in death are two sisters who died in infancy and one brother, Norbert F. Nordhoff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schellville, Indian. American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper will conduct military grave side rites.

Visitation will be held one hour before the 2:00 p.m. service time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schellville on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
