JoAnn Prechtel, 76

JoAnn Prechtel, 76, of Jasper, passed away at 6:47 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at her home.
She was born in Jasper, Indiana on July 19, 1938 to Edward and Gertrude (Neuhoff) Stenftenagel. She married Edwin Prechtel on October 9, 1994 in Precious Blood Catholic Church.
She was a graduate of Jasper High School Class of 1956. JoAnn retired from the bureau of motor vehicles where she had worked for many years. She also worked as a waitress in the local area. She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Blessed Virgin Sodality and the Red Hat Society. JoAnn was an avid walker and was a country music fan.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Prechtel; two daughters, Julie Hopf and her husband Mike of Huntingburg and Barb Hopf and husband Tim of Huntingburg; two sons, Mark Lichlyter and wife Rose of Jasper and Gary Lichlyter and Tiffany of Lemont, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Stenftenagel and Donald “Dutch” Stenftenagel, both of Jasper.
Preceding her in death are one brother Jerome “Dimp” Stenftenagel; one sister Dorothy who died in infancy; and daughter-in-law JoAnn E. Lichlyter.
Funeral services for JoAnn Prechtel will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
The Blessed Virgin Sodality will hold a rosary service at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
