John C. Summers, 85, Jasper
John C. Summers, 85, of Jasper, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019, in St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

John was born in Loogootee, on March 1, 1934, to John T. and Mary O. (Patterson) Summers. He married Jeannine Parker on May 22, 1954, at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois.
John was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was an electrical engineer for 32 years for Crane Naval Depot. He then served as a consultant for the Science Application International Corp. (SAIC) for eight years and was also a consultant for and retired from EG&G. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, American Legion Post #147, the Naval Activity Retired Federal Association (NAFRA) and the Jasper Flying Club (JRC). He enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading, playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Summers of Jasper; one daughter, Denise Summers of Jasper; one son, Douglas (Kenda) Summers of Franklin, Ind.; five grandchildren, Spenser, Brittany, Lindsey, Shaina, and Griffin; one brother, Thomas (Becky) Summers of Loogootee.
Preceding him in death are four sisters, Patricia Bowling, Mary Louise Yarnell, Janet Jones, and Judy Summers, and one brother, Kenneth Summers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Enlow City Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rights.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
