John E. Mullis, 68

John E. Mullis, 68 of St. Meinrad passed away Wednesday January 30th at VNA Plus Home Hospice in Evansville.

He was born December 14, 1944 at St. Meinrad to Emil and Cecilia (Jacob) Mullis. John married Ruth Denning in St. Meinrad Catholic Church on January 14, 1967.

He worked at Olinger Construction, DMI, Waninger and Sons Timber and also St. Meinrad Archabbey in the maintenance division. John was also a lifelong farmer. John was a member of the St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 and the St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus #5599.

Survivors include his wife Ruth. One son, Thomas L. Mullis of Dale and a daughter Deborah K. Bays of Ferdinand and her husband James. Five brothers, Sylvester Mullis of Manchester, IA., Leo and Oscar Mullis both of St. Meinrad, Leroy Mullis of Earlville, IA., and Joe Mullis of Fulda. Two sisters, Esther Klee & Mary Ann Troesch both of St. Meinrad and five grandchildren also survive. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Othmar and Edgar Mullis.

Friends may call Sunday February 3rd from 2-8:00 PM CST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and Monday from 9:00 AM CST to service time at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM CST. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Rights by St. Meinrad Legion Post 366.
