John R. Reckelhoff, 68, Evansville

John R. Reckelhoff, 68, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the St. Vincent Heart Hospital in Carmel.

John was a 1971 graduate of St. Ferdinand High School in Ferdinand and earned a chemical engineering degree from Rose Hulman Institute in 1975. He retired from Mead Johnson Nutritionals where he worked in product research. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County and had many hobbies and interests.

John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sylvia (Hochgesang) Reckelhoff; three daughters, Angela (Nick) Mueller, Anna (Ben) Gibson, and Amelia (Brandon) Hartz; three sons, Andrew (Jessica) Reckelhoff, Aaron (Tasha) Reckelhoff and Adam Reckelhoff; his mother, Ruth Pearline Reckelhoff; sisters, Jane Reckelhoff-Romero, Anne Reckelhoff and Sara (George) Leaks; six grandchildren, Beatrice, Peter, Paul, Bernadette, Aurora, and John Reckelhoff and one granddaughter, Baby Hartz due in November.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at St. Joseph Church Vanderburgh County, 6202 W. St. Joseph Road.

    Please accept my sympathy at this difficult time. I am not sure you remember me, but I was principal at St. Joe when your children were in school. I remember John and his family—very good people!! My prayers are with all of you.
