Leo R. Reller, 92, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:42 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
He was born March 10, 1925, in Stendal, Indiana to Daniel and Margaret (Butke) Reller.
Leo served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Laurabell Kaetzel on September 29, 1956, in Huntingburg. He was owner and operator of Reller Jewelers in Huntingburg for 35 years. Leo was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal and the V.F.W. Post #2366. He was an advocate for military veterans and active in the V.F.W. at the local, state and national levels.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Amos, Edwin “Pete”, Paul and Cleo Reller; and sister, Dorothea Henke.
Leo is survived by his wife, Laurabell Reller of Huntingburg; one daughter, Glenda (James) Nugent of Huntingburg; one son, Keith (Cheryl) Reller of Prospect, Kentucky; his sister, Ruth (Donald) Kamman of Haubstadt; six grandchildren, Justin Neal of Montgomery, Alabama, Cameron Harris of Jasper, Whitney Chamberlain of Huntingburg, Tyler and Braxton Reller both of Prospect, Kentucky and Luke Durcholz of Huntingburg; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Leo Reller will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal with Pastor Ed Wicks officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017, and also at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.
