Letter to the Editor: Schuetter has vision tempered with common sense
It is an interesting mayoral race in Jasper.
I enjoyed Danny Barrett’s letter of Oct. 20th as he made a priceless comment about a political radio ad: “ . . . another politician taking credit where credit is not due, just to get re-elected.” I couldn’t agree with him more.
Jasper, as a city, is a well-oiled machine made up of lots and lots of good people. I appreciate the efforts of our city employees. Without them the whole thing would implode. It’s just a darn good city and has been for a very long time. I took offense to Mayor Seitz’s comment during the VUJC mayoral forum that Jasper was 25 years behind when he took office.
That is simply not true.
In the politics surrounding the mayoral race there have been comments made concerning “vision” versus performing “mundane” tasks. One of the more difficult mayoral tasks is to be progressive and on top of things without a senseless spending of the taxpayers’ money.
I’ve known Wayne and Myra Schuetter nearly all of my life. It would be difficult find two better people to serve our city as “mayor” and “first lady” of Jasper. Wayne has much vision and a huge amount of common sense to go along with it. He has a lot of experience in leadership positions and has succeeded in every one of them. I truly respect the Schuetters for many reasons, and I can guarantee anyone that they always try to put others first.
Dubois County Republican chairman Don Hayes stated a lot of “give me’s” in his letter of Oct. 14th. He wants a mayor who leads and thinks strategically, and he wants a mayor who is an innovator among other things. If we elect Wayne Schuetter as our next mayor I know that Mr. Hayes will get his “give me’s,” and a lot more.
One of the best things that can happen to Jasper is to elect Wayne Schuetter to be our next mayor.
