Letter: Voting is a civic sacrament

“Voting is a civic sacrament,” a quote from Father Theodore Hesburgh, is a perfect statement about the importance of voting in the upcoming election. Your vote will have an impact on the people who will represent you in local, state, and national government, and it is your opportunity to choose the candidates that represent your interests.

You are eligible to vote if you are a citizen of the US and a resident of Indiana. You must be 18 on or before the election. Anyone can check their registration status, find a list of candidates and other voter information by going the State website, http://www.indianavoters.com.

This election is as important as any election because it is your chance to decide who will
represent us in government. The next state legislative session will create the budget that funds
our schools, infrastructure and impacts healthcare; the county elections will determine how our
local tax dollars are used, so every vote will have an impact. Your vote can protect this
democratic process by taking part in our “Civic Sacrament.”

Dubois County Democratic Party
