Letter: Where is truth, dignity, honor, and patriotism?

I am not sophisticated enough to understand Senator Braun’s and Senator Young’s personal interests and ambitions. But, I do understand that they are elected and paid to lead and serve the United States of America.

Constitutionally, part of your job is to protect the nation from a rogue executive branch emasculating the other two branches of government and eroding the Constitution. Having lived under a tyrannical King, the founders were keen on that point.

You are failing miserably.

You will not call out any lie or outrage from the White House no matter how pernicious. You are lackeys and impotent yes men, not real Senators. America is weakened, our enemies are licking their chops over picking our bones.

Our allies have been injured, insulted and alienated. America is humiliated, pitied and mocked by the entire rest of the world. Racial minorities are overtly persecuted. Peaceful protesters in Washington, DC were violently attacked to facilitate a presidential photo op. The president wants the US military to occupy US cities.

Where is truth, dignity, honor and patriotism?

  1. What ever happened to all the good Republicans that used to be men who cared more about their country

    1. I was going to ask the same for the Democrats but they never cared about people in the country or this country to begin with.

    2. Please Dan, instead of continually attacking everyone you perceive to be the enemy try looking in the mirror every once in a while. I continually see you bashing a whole group of people. Just because you voted for Trump has the “Party” has threatened to take away your arm band? Do you talk all your Republican friends this way? Just ask’n.
I apologize for my poor attempt at humor but blatant hypocrisy always makes me chuckle.
Have a nice day & may God Bless.

  2. There is still time for them to stand up, but we as citizens have to stand up and tell them our limits been reached.
As Kurt Vonnegut jr writes…We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

  3. @Ron, wouldn’t a better to ask yourself be, “What have I done today to make the world around me a better place?”
I am always amazed at the number of people who, while hiding behind a keyboard, are so willing to attack another persons character or beliefs while continually looking the other way when someone in their own “Party” are doing the same or worse.
We will never get better as a country until we forget about the “Party” and start taking care of our own and our neighbors. We are all more alike than we are different.
    God Bless

    1. I don’t recall approving of anyone lying. The founders spoke long and often on the absolute necessity of virtue to reserve our republican form of government. Lying is as far removed from virtue, as it is possible to get. I am an old soldier, who had honor hammered into me in my years in the Army. I will call out anyone for lying. Ask GOP Sen Braun. Ask DEM ex Sen Donnelly. The only Hoosier Senator in my lifetime, who I have thought was acceptably honest was Richard Lugar.
