Lois C. Lechner, 84, Jasper

Lois C. Lechner, 84, of Jasper, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. 

Lois was born in on January 30, 1937, to John and Pauline (Singer) Katterhenry.  

She married Robert “Boob” Lechner on June 7, 1985. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2004. 

She was a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg until it closed and then worked until retirement at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. 

She was a member of the Jasper Moose, Eagles of Huntingburg, and the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries. 

Lois enjoyed playing cards and was a member of many card clubs. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of many leagues, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

She is survived by two children, John Scott Sibrel of Huntingburg and Sarah J. McKnight of Jasper; four grandchildren, Zachary Sibrel, Brooke Patty, Byron “B.J.” Caldemeyer, and Theresa McKnight; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Surheinrich of Huntingburg and Jean (Nick) Dilger of Ferdinand; and one brother, David “Butch” (Kay) Katterhenry of Huntingburg. 

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is her companion, Charles Durcholz.  

Private services were held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper.

  1. I remember she was very nice 2 me when I had my appendix surgery at Hburg Hospital back in ’76 ..46 yrs ago.. Her kindness 2 me leaves a special memory of her. My sympathy 2 her family n prayer.

  2. Lois was a very kind and loving person, who treated my Dad very well for over 19 years of marriage. We will continue to pray for Scott, Sarah, and rest of Family.

  3. So sorry for your loss of Lois. We spent many years working together at St. Joseph Hospital . She had a kind and gentle way to care for many patients. Jean and Zach and all of your family are in my prayers.
