Magic and comedy set to entertain at the Jasper Arts Center

The Amazing Max is set to combine magic and comedy at the Jasper Arts Center on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

Max Darwin, the creator of “The Amazing Max”, first appeared on stage before he could walk. He loves theater, magic, ninjas, and the sound of children laughing. He can be seen as a featured artist on Season 3 & 4 of “Brain Games” (National Geographic Channel) and magic consultant for “Gotham” (Fox) and “American’s Got Talent” (NBC).

This past fall Max was selected to be a year-long artist in residence as part of The New Victory Theater’s Labworks program. Collaborating with Academy Award Winner Alexander Dinelaris (“Birdman”), he is in the process of writing and creating a brand new show set to premiere in 2019.

Max Darwin earned the moniker “The Amazing Max” for his extraordinary skills as a magician and also for his ability to entertain adult audiences while keeping the little ones spellbound.

Max combines magic and comedy, making objects appear and disappear and generally defying the laws of physics inches from theatergoers’ faces. This high-energy, interactive and all-around silly show is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

Max also has an instructional magic video, “Magic in Minutes”, where he teaches kids ages 5 and up how to fill their everyday lives with wonder and perform magic with ordinary objects found right in their own home.

Tickets are available by visiting www.jasperarts.org or by calling 812-482-3070. Tickets are $20 for adults and $8 for students and children. Group rates are available. Children 10 and under can get a free ticket with each purchase of an adult ticket.

The performance presented by Jasper Community Arts will be held at the Jasper Arts Center on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:30 p.m.

Jasper Community Arts is a department of the City of Jasper. Additional support is provided by Friends of the Arts, Inc., Dubois County Tourism, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts with special thanks to the Community Foundation Alliance.
