With numbers rivaling the first year of the event, organizers of the annual Dubois County Plunge were enthused with the 68 people that ran into the frigid water of Ferdinand Forest Lake Sunday afternoon.

In all, $5,705 was raised at Sunday’s plunge, bringing the total up to $56,865 over the 12 years the event has been held.

Proceeds from the event go to area food banks and the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center.

We really feel like these three guys demonstrate an appropriate cross-section of people that run into freezing water for a good cause. Ryan Oeding (left) seems a bit apprehensive and unsure about what to expect. Elliot Meyer (middle) is fully committed and ready for the fun. Ben Brinkman (right) is just happy to be here. This was the first plunge for all three.
