Jasper police arrested a Jasper man after he rolled his truck on Mill Street and then fled the scene on foot Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to the report of a rolled over truck on Mill Street near Streicher Construction at about 1:26 p.m. When they arrived, witnesses at the scene said the driver had climbed from the 1998 Ford F150 and fled the scene on foot to the south-east. He was described as wearing a red shirt.
Officers located the man a short time later at the Camelot Inn. Police say the man fled when he saw them and after a brief foot chase, he was arrested near Mill Street.
He was identified as Aaron J. Schwartz, 36, of Jasper. He told police that as he was exiting the Camelot Inn, he encountered another vehicle heading north on Mill Street. He allegedly told police he swerved to avoid the vehicle and went off the west side of the road where the truck rolled over into the fence on along the Buffalo Trace Golf Course.
Police allegedly determined Schwartz had a .112 percent blood alcohol content and also found THC and meth in his system.
He was charged with operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene and resisting law enforcement and was booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
He suffered a contusion to his left forearm in the crash.
The truck was considered a total loss.
The Jasper Fire Department, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and a Uebelhor and Sons wrecker assisted.
