Man arrested for using Texas man’s identity to get a job, credit cards


Jasper police arrested Juan Manuel Soni Mendoza, of 3828 N. Portersville Road, Jasper, for allegedly using a Texas man’s identity to gain employment.

Police received the information about the man using the Texas man’s name, birthday and social security number to gain employment. Police identified and located Mendoza at his place of employment and took him into custody at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said they located numerous forms of identification determined to be false and two bank credit cards issued to the fraudulent name on Soni Mendoza when he was taken into custody.

Mendoza faces preliminary Level 6 felony charges of identity deception, synthetic identity deception and fraud. He was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
